That's according to figures from the Health and Safety Authority, who say there were no fatal work-related accidents in Clare last year. Cork had the highest number of fatal workpalce accidents both last year and throughout this decade. 16 people have been killed in work-related accidents in Clare this decade. Figures dating back to 2010 show 16 people here have lost their lives in these accidents and this is the eighth highest of any county in Ireland. Clare Junior Minister Pat Breen, who attended an event in Dublin to mark the third annual Workers' Memorial Day, has called for an increased focus on safety in the workplace.

This year, it focuses on greater transparency and better national data on occupational diseases and accidents. A new global strategy to tackle inequalities in safeguarding the world's workforce has been launched by IOSH in recognition of today's World Day for Safety and Health at Work. One example of how the Institution is already collaborating and influencing to help workers worldwide is IOSH's No Time to Lose campaign.
